Chase was just 20 months of age when he initially came into our care in October 2017. A police dog trainer had carried out assessment on him but felt he would be more suited in a home as a pet rather than as a working dog in the police force. His stay with us was a brief one and just a month later, we had found him an amazing home and off he went to start his new life.
Within a few months, his owner had come to realise that giving Chase a loving, secure home came with several hurdles along the way and questioned their compatibility and in March 2018 Chase found himself back in our care. Unfortunately Chase has remained with us ever since.
Chase is now 7 years old. He requires an owner that can give him company, stimulation and exercise. If you give him all three, along with a good variation of treats along the way, he will repay you by being quite simply the most loyal, affectionate companion you could wish for. Chase follows the common breed traits of his dominant breed, the malinois in which he can become restless, frustrated and bored when he doesn't have a 'job' to do. He therefore wouldn't suit a household where the owners work long hours or travel often. The more physical exercise you can offer Chase, the better, combined with varied mental stimulation will ensure he is kept occupied and happy. Chase walks well on a lead and is non reactive to other dogs when out and about. He does however have a natural prey drive so we wouldn't recommend he is exercised off lead. The chance of a local secure enclosed dog paddock would most certainly be welcomed by Chase, a chance to run around, showing off his amazing dribbling techniques with a boomer ball, his favourite game to play!
Chase requires an adult only household where he is the only pet and 6ft, strong garden boundaries are also a must as he is known at the sanctuary as being a keen jumper!
