Mabel was originally residing with another dog in her previous home and had been since she was a puppy. Unfortunately, as Mabel grew more confident in the home and her individual character developed, it became apparent that she would definitely be more suited to being the only dog in the household. She therefore came to us at the sanctuary.

Mabel arrived being very wary of new people and would ensure her carers knew of her anxiety by giving them a very low grumble as they tried to introduce themselves to her. Introductions had to be carried out at Mabel’s pace. Giving her both time and patience resulted in Mabel quickly progressing, gaining confidence of her carers and her true personality shining through.

Once Mabel is familiar and comfortable with someone, she will crave interaction from you. She loves to play and will try and instigate it from you by bounding around with lots of happy tail wagging and play bows. She enjoys chewing on natural dog treats, a hoof being her favourite. Mabel walks relatively well on a lead, knows her basic commands and is house trained.

We are looking for a relatively quiet home for Mabel where there are no young children (16+) due to her initial nervousness. Mabel has previously lived with several cats so we would feel happy her going to a home with dog friendly cats, providing introductions are carried out slowly. Minimum boundary height for Mabel is 5ft.
