Maya is a 6 year old Bloodhound cross who was rescued at a year old in the USA and brought over to the UK when her previous owners moved here 3 years ago.

Sadly, Maya was relinquished in our care recently following a change in personal circumstances.

Maya struggled to settle in a kennel environment so the decision was made to place her in a foster home. This is what her foster carers have to say about her....

"Maya has one of the sweetest natures going. She is super affectionate, adores cuddles and will skilfully use her front paws to guide your hand to her tummy for scratches! She is very friendly with people.
Maya has a good appetite and is very gentle taking treats from you. She if fully house trained and enjoys the occasional zoomies in the garden. She enjoys playing with tennis balls and tug with a rope toy.

Maya enjoys long walks on a long line and shows signs of some good recall, although this will need further training in her new home. Maya does have a fairly high prey drive so will chase squirrels, rabbits and other small creatures, so would be safest being allowed off-lead time in an enclosed paddock. On a short lead Maya will pull, especially to say hello to others, so will benefit from some further training surrounding loose lead walking. She's not a fan of swimming but enjoys the beach and being by the river. Generally, Maya is very friendly around other dogs. She can be a little boisterous in her play which smaller dogs may find overbearing."

As a hound breed, Maya's big floppy, silky smooth ears need regular cleaning. If not kept clean, she can become itchy.

Maya can be left alone for short periods of time, she has a little bark and then settles down. She is not destructive in the house at all and will happily travel in the car. Maya is never happier than sat snuggled on the sofa or bed with you having her belly rubbed or her head scratched. She is such a loving dog and would make an amazing companion.

Maya will need to be an only pet but could go for social lead walks with other dogs once she has settled into her new home. She could live with dog savvy children aged 12 plus.
