Meet Ruby and Maisie, a bonded pair of Chihuahuas that are searching for their forever home after their owner sadly passed away.

Ruby and Maisie’s ideal home would be where any children in the household are aged 12and upwards, due to them not having past experience of living with any children and would definitely benefit from a quieter home. They are currently in foster care with a member of our kennel staff due to finding the kennel environment a little overwhelming. They have the potential to be rehomed with another small dog of similar temperament, pending successful meets at the sanctuary. They are cat friendly and could share their home with a dog savvy cat.

Ruby is a 12 year old long haired chihuahua and is the less confident of the pair. She is a little worried around new people, but given time, will trust and bond to her human and enjoy fuss and snuggles from them.

Maisie is a 6 year old chihuahua X pomeranian and evidently more confident than Ruby. She very quickly warms to her human and in a very short time will become their little shadow, choosing to be around them at every opportunity!

In their previous home, Ruby and Maisie didn’t often go out and about on walks, therefore, their new owner will need to continue with positive reward based confidence building around walking comfortably on their harness and leads, Ruby particularly. Maisie has already made wonderful progress in this and has quickly discovered how fun walks can be, with lots of opportunities to sniff and take in the sights and smells. Ruby is non reactive of other dogs whereas Maisie can sometimes have a little bark at any other dogs passing her by.

Ruby and Maisie’s new owner will need to be prepared to work on their house training, although they have been making progress with this since being in their foster home. Atbedtime, Maisie loves to be up close and snuggle with her special human whilst Ruby prefers the comfort of her own chosen space or armchair!
