Alfred is a 4 year old lurcher who came into our care as an unclaimed stray through the dog warden. Since being with us, he has spent a little time in a home environment which has given us a little more understanding of what he is looking for in his new home.

Despite being a stray, we feel fairly confident that Alfred has previously spent time in a home. He proved to be house trained, settles well overnight and is non destructive. Household noises such as the television, hoover etc do not seem to phase him. Alfred seems to have a very good understanding of basic commands and responds well to them. He travels comfortably in a car and walks well on a lead.

As with all sighthounds, we recommend that Alfred is exercised wearing a muzzle due to his breed trait of high prey drive. Also, for this reason, he is not suitable to be rehomed with cats or any other small animals and any off lead time is recommended to only take place in a secure dog friendly paddock. When out on a walk, Alfred is non reactive of other dogs so could potentially enjoy social lead walks with doggy pals but would not be happy to share his home with another dog.

Alfred loves to play. His play style can be quite boisterous, often vocalising during playtime. Likewise with his “zoomies” which he often likes to perform so a decent size garden with 6ft, secure boundaries for Alfred is a must!

Alfred also has his affectionate side, he enjoys company of his carers and will seek your attention and instigate fuss during down time.
