Babet is a young Lurcher cross that came into our care at the start of November 2023 as an unclaimed stray from the dog warden. We have estimated him to be around 2 years old.
Due to Babet being a stray, we do not have any background history for him, therefore, any judgments made have been based on his time spent at the sanctuary.
When Babet first came to us he was in quite a sorry state, he was underweight and struggling with an old injury to one of his toes which subsequently meant that he had to have it removed. This does not affect Babet and will not cause him any future issues. Babet is now feeling much better and is ready to find a new home!
Babet does not appear to have had much training previously so would benefit from an owner willing to work with him. He walks lovely to heal and does not pull on the lead, he is currently walked in a harness at the sanctuary. Babet does have a strong prey drive and finds small furry animals too interesting, for this reason he would not be suitable to be let off the lead unless in an enclosed area. We would also recommend he wear a muzzle whilst out of the home due to his prey drive. Babet would not be suitable to live with cats or small animals.
Babet is not currently clean in his kennel so this would suggest he has never been house trained and may need help in his new home to adjust to this. Babet is not destructive and loves nothing more then curling up on a warm, cosy duvet. He loves attention and always greets anyone he meets with a very waggy tail and gives wonderful cuddles!
Babet is great with other dogs and regularly socialises with other dogs at the sanctuary. His best friend is Bolty - https://www.pactsanctuary.org/bolty.html who is also a Lurcher that came to us a stray and it would be amazing if we could find Babet and Bolty a home together! Babet would be best suited to a home with someone at home the majority of the time or with another dog for company.
Babet requires access to a private, secure garden attached to the home with a minimum of 6ft fencing/boundaries.
